Thea, the kitchen by architect Antonio Citterio for Arclinea, a mix of functional and convivial areas
Contain, optimize, organize space, hide, and be the functional and convivial heart of the house. These are the aspects behind Thea, the new ergonomic kitchen designed by architect Antonio Citterio for Arclinea that will be presented in the SAG'80 showroom in via Boccaccio 11 during the next Fuorisalone, from 5th to 10th September. A versatile kitchen, Thea, which underlines the strong link with the company's history, bearing the name of the brand's first kitchen, created in 1958. The first Thea model marked a Copernican revolution in the kitchen world developed up to that moment: it was the first modular model entirely in natural wood. Inspired by Scandinavian design, it had a great aesthetic impact, marked by a clear detachment from the enameled metal, the material with which modern kitchens were then set up.
The one presented during this edition of the Supersalone, instead, with the extreme practicality and aesthetic essentiality, typical of models without handles, the architect Antonio Citterio now associates a series of details and design choices, such as the separation into two distinct and complementary areas: Wet, the operational part, and Show, the convivial area. The Waterfall top allows you to design islands, peninsulas, linear solutions, in material continuity between the top and the terminal side.
The combinations of materials and finishes highlight an attentive, accessible and perfectly livable elegance: order, attention to detail, functions at your fingertips. Functional, flexible in design, configurable in different types and intended for both the retail and the contract world. The real novelty is represented by a snack island, with a different geometry and design and the absence of a handle. No electronics, but smart, easy-to-understand features.
In Thea, the architect Citterio creates a real domestic architecture, a concept with a pure and refined design created on the basis of an in-depth study of ergonomics and new lifestyles.
Wet Kitchen, the functional area where the passion for cooking takes shape
The Wet kitchen is the functional area of Thea, a perfectly equipped workplace, but at the same time also a livable and welcoming space. The project, on three sides, emphasizes spaces and equipment such as the central cooking area with a 90cm oven and double sink on the sides. The compositional horizontality is accentuated by the Gola profile in black anodized aluminum in contrast with the white Fenix NTM® doors, the black PVD stainless steel plinth and the stainless steel profile integrated into the equipped backrest, made of opaque veined quartz like the Waterfall top. These combinations of materials and finishes enhance an attentive, accessible and perfectly livable elegance where order, attention to detail, functions at hand and eye, surfaces that are always perfectly illuminated, thanks to the integrated light under the wall unit and under the shelf, are protagonists. The Moka Box internal equipment is also special, an organization system of drawers and large drawers in dark oak with sides in black metal, accessories in glass, ceramic and metal. Functional, essential and complete concept for the new Urban interior equipment - in particular the corner storage unit, which integrates drawer and container bases, with frames and mechanisms in dark gray metal and baskets with aluminum perimeter, melamine bottom, always in dark gray.
The wall of the NTF black ash wardrobe divides the two areas of Thea, with a vertical groove profile in black anodized aluminum, which facilitates access to the area dedicated to the pantry.
Show Kitchen, to experience conviviality to the fullest
Beyond the dividing wall in black ash wood which also becomes an elegant boiserie, opens up the convivial area of Thea, the Show Kitchen has the focus of the relational activity on the convivial island characterized by the original Canto snack and the design of the Waterfall top in opaque veined quartz which, thanks to the material continuity between the top and the terminal side, creates a refined and warm effect. The island dialogues with the elegant double sideboard with NTF fossil oak wood interiors.
Thea, a versatile model with multiple compositional solutions
The peculiarity of the new Thea, in addition to the wide range of Arclinea materials and finishes, is its flexibility which is expressed in various compositional solutions that integrate the Show and the Wet Kitchen with harmony and balance, giving life to refined and at the same time functional environments. Among the most refined proposals the one with the Show Kitchen with the elegant convivial island finished with doors in melamine iron gray Waterfall top in glossy veined quartz (h: 2 cm), with external front edge and plinth in black PVD stainless steel behind, divided from the full-height wooden wall leading to the Wet kitchen. The Wet Kitchen space with central operational area offers open wall units in Fossil Oak NTF and accessories in wire and ceramic. The furniture is enhanced by the Gola Profile, by Mensolinea and Mensoluce with integrated hood in black anodized aluminum and by the plinth in black PVD stainless steel.
