From the architectural redesign of the spaces to the choice of furnishings and accessories for a total-look project, an intense expression of the refined language of SAG'80.

In the heart of Laigueglia, one of the most suggestive Ligurian villages, SAG'80 oversaw the total renovation of an apartment on the third floor of a typical Ligurian building: a turnkey interior design and architecture project in collaboration with Dome Milano Studio regarding the architectural part.

The understanding with the clients was an immediate success, a mature couple with a son who had already entrusted the SAG'80 team with the renovation of another apartment located in the same building a few years ago.

The aim was to have a second home with a casual spirit, with large spaces full of light where you can spend relaxing moments and welcome family and friends.

The renovation project

The renovation project in collaboration with Dome Milano Studio has therefore completely rethought the distribution of the spaces, originally not very bright and connected by a long, narrow corridor.

The design challenge was in fact to give new strength to the house through a new configuration of the spaces, creating larger rooms for a more contemporary use of the house without ever distorting its true soul. It was therefore decided to reduce the number of rooms in favor of more abundantly sized rooms.

Today the apartment has a large living area directly accessible from the entrance; a dining area with open-plan kitchen; two bedrooms, both with en suite bathrooms and a service bathroom next to the kitchen.

Another request from the clients considered the fact that the two residences, the new one developed on one level for approximately 150 sqm and the previous one located on the upper floor with a surface area of around 100 sqm, could be easily joined together; made something possible thanks to the redistribution of the spaces overlooking the large terrace above the new apartment.

The renovation that lasted about eight months between the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 was, where possible, conventional. The red bricks of the barrel-vaulted ceilings, a typical architectural element of the area, have been brought back to view once they have been sandblasted. Even the black and white marble floor has mostly remained the original one, faithfully reconstructed in the areas where the new plan required it.

The central architectural element of the project is the staircase leading to the terrace. Completely replanned and redesigned, it is today the focus point of the house that invites you to go towards the large outdoor space while also acting as a receptive cone of light for the interiors. Refined in its aesthetics, it takes up the Carrara marble of the floors for the treads and combines it with the intense blue of the Appiani micro-mosaic for the scales. All the fixtures and internal doors are new, which stand out for the custom-designed handles inspired by the marine style.

The wish of the owners was that of a house of minimal elegance with few pieces but with a refined retro soul. Today each room has its own personality, feel rouge is precisely the vintage soul that is revealed through refined elements such as the Lady armchair by Arflex, a unique piece out of production or the fireplace redesigned from an old Parisian house, today a purely decorative element that is the protagonist of the living room.

The angles of the house

La cucina, modello Aprile di Boffi, punta sulla leggerezza del bianco. A dare carattere è il grande lampadario Wireflow di Vibia.

The kitchen, the Aprile model by Boffi, focuses on the lightness of white. The large chandelier Wireflow by Vibia is to give character.

The master bedroom with walls covered with optical wallpaper with a vintage Riviera mood by Cole&Son stands out for its open plan with en suite bathroom with walk-through shower in Carrara marble towards the large walk-in closet, Gliss Master model by Molteni and doors in bronze smoked glass of Glas Italia, while the sanitary ware area is shielded by a bronzed mesh wall. The flower-shaped bedside tables are in solid wood covered with Alpi wood, specially designed by Dome Milano Studio.

The son's bedroom, on the other hand, plays on a more nautical style thanks to the choice of textured wallpaper and the bathroom completely covered with blue micro-mosaic again by Appiani.

The bed is custom designed like the custom wardrobe while the straw chandelier is a unique piece signed by a French artist.

Numerous custom pieces specially designed by SAG'80 for the project: on the large terrace, the sage green kitchen with the large suspended barbecue, the long table with bench and the coffee table in front of the sofa - the Dock model by B&B Italia - are all personalized made, made of painted metal with a special treatment to resist atmospheric agents.

SAG'80 also assisted the client in the planning of the greenery by designing the large metal vases painted in green, also such as the outdoor kitchen, as well as in the selection of the works of art. Among these, the large total white painting with a material effect at the entrance and the exclusive creations of Dilmos, Città Invisibile by Umberto Dattola and the Daisies by Bertozzi and Dal Monte Casoni stand out, the first with a birch wood structure, cladding in gold and red coral knobs complete the refined styling of the living room while the hand-made ceramic knobs give the staircase more character.

The residence, a real SAG'80 total look from the furniture to the textile and table accessories, best represents the stylistic and design code of the historic Milanese store which stands out precisely for the ability to support the client with a attentive consulting service and, thanks to the availability of a real interior design and architectural planning service, it is also able to guarantee its clients a turnkey project service.
