Contemporary design and furnishing
In 1927 the Cassina brothers, Cesare and Umberto, founded a brand that was to become one of the largest among the italian companies, leader in the market for design and furnishing. The soul of this company stands in the achievement to perfectly mix tradition and experimentation; Cassina is well known for its rigor and attitude in fine project research. An unmistakable line drawn from the pens of big personalities of both historical and contemporary design.
Andrea Branzi, Achille Castiglioni, Rodolfo Dordoni, Vico Magistretti, Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Ettore Sottsass and later Piero Lissoni together with Philippe Starck who have contributed in launching this brand in the world scene.
A brand also to be remembered for the rediscovery of undisputed design classic by great masters such as Le Corbusier, Rietveld and Frank Lloyd Wright, still in production today.
In 1964 Le Corbusier and Cassina established their historical collaboration with the signature of the first in a series of exclusive licensing agreements for publishing rights of some of its models: among all, it is worth mentioning that the LC Collection has a planetary popularity and LC2 armchair is a top selling.
To this super exclusive list we must not forget to quote the Boboli Table by Rodolfo Dordoni, the Zig Zag Chair and the Utrecht Sofa by Rietveld, the Superleggera Chair by Gio Ponti, and the Caprice Chair by Philippe Starck, all Made in Italy icons signed Cassina.
