SAG’80 hosts the latest from CTO Lighting

CTO Lighting presents Modulo by Federico Peri in SAG’80 showroom

Refinement, innovation and craftsmanship are the characteristics that unite SAG’80 and CTO Lighting, a British company known worldwide for producing luxury lighting. For the upcoming edition of Design Week – Supersalone in September, the British luxury brand will present a preview of its new Modulo collection, created in collaboration with designer Federico Peri, inside the SAG’80 showroom at Via Boccaccio 4.

CTO Lighting company, a perfect mix of Taylor-made solutions and precious materials

Refined design, precious materials that guarantee excellent performance, and tailor-made lighting solutions. All of this has propelled CTO Lighting into the Olympus of the world’s leading luxury lighting companies. Founded in 1998 by Chris and Clare Turner, the brand took its first steps into the world of lighting design, immediately distinguishing itself by combining the technical expertise of the former, an engineer in the field, and his wife’s passion for design. The ever-increasing demand for luxury materials for the lighting industry then prompted them to use novel solutions with handcrafted brass, mouth-blown glass, bronze, alabaster. Here, then, are products of the highest caliber that take inspiration from both nature and architecture, handcrafted by expert artisans with the intention of creating elegant and striking lamps that are cared for down to the smallest detail. Some of the best-known custom-made lighting installations include the Savoy Hotel, Dorchester London, St. Pancras Reinassance Hotel, and the Children Firehouse. The British company also collaborates with designers such as Philippe Starck, David Collins Studio, and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio on prestigious interior projects around the world.

Modulo, the Meccano-inspired lighting system

It is the new collection of chandeliers, pendant and wall lamps, born from the collaboration between renowned Italian designer Federico Peri and CTO Lighting.  A synergy that has seen both draw on each other’s DNA, craftsmanship, understated and precious luxury, made of authentic and refined materials, sophisticated lines and precise geometric shapes. Federico Peri, born in Montebelluna (Treviso) in 1983, an innovative designer and refined interpreter of the furnishing universe, manages to capture the essence of the object in the sign of an innate elegance, through a constant work of subtraction and simplification, in search of forms that aspire to eternity. He loves to express himself with products of the highest quality, making evocative pieces dense with creative lyricism. For this collection, the designer was inspired by his childhood in the 1980s, spent in his grandfather’s metal shelving factory, where little Peri played with metal components as if they were pieces of his Meccano.

In fact, Modulo also exploits the principle of constructions: glass modules are combined to create different shapes. They can thus be arranged linearly, creating unusual suspended sculptures of light. For this collection, the designer experimented with the concept of connectivity, choosing fine materials, such as the ornate, opaline glass of the diffusers, which contrast with the brass of the supporting structure, creating a fascinating collection. Each of the smoked tempered glass bases is a unique handcrafted piece, knurled and slightly darkened. The jewel-like glass module is supported by hand-finished brass strips, which add decorative power to the supporting structure. The chandelier’s eleven diffusers, suspended on an elegant lattice structure, evoke pure splendor.

Horizontal and vertical hanging elements can be mounted alone or in groups, creating unusual compositions where all attention is catalyzed on the vertical element. Wall lamps are offered with one, two or three glass shades to make customized compositions. A lighting system, that of Modulo, configured in such a way as to allow maximum versatility in any kind of space. The entire collection is illuminated by LED lights with adjustable intensity, protected by graphic-style diffusers of opal glass.
