In just over 50 years of life, Kettal, a company founded in the 1960s by Manuel Alorda, has managed to establish itself as one of the most notable and appreciated international companies in the indoor furniture sector.
A path of great success that is mainly due to the mission to which this Spanish brand has always remained faithful over time: to produce design furniture for outdoor use that combines aesthetics, inevitably linked to the beauty of outdoor living which is underlying to Mediterranean countries, to values such as the functionality and durability of the products, designed to withstand even if exposed to various climatic conditions throughout the year.
To achieve this goal, Kettal has focused on constant technical research, crucial for discovering and enhancing the used materials, and on collaboration with some world-class names in the world of design, such as Patricia Urquiola, Doshi Levien and Rodolfo Dordoni.
KETTAL CALA: DOSHI LEVIEN BETWEEN CONCEPT AND INSPIRATION
Behind the concept of the Cala armchair by Kettal, conceived by the Doshi Levien studio founded by the designers Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien, now linked by a effective partnership with this Spanish company, there is the historic garden seat Emmanuelle, which provided the studio with the inspiration to create a collection that first of all offers a wide range of possibilities to furnish your outdoor space.
The armchairs of the Cala collection allow you to play with backrests available in various heights and solutions with one, two or even three seats, which can be combined with the tables of the same collection. Regardless of the characteristics of the chosen piece, Cala gives an unique style to verandas and gardens through the woven rope texture, capable at the same time of offering privacy and keeping small visually opened windows that create a connection with the surrounding greenery.
KETTAL OUTDOOR THE MOST REQUESTED DESIGNS
The prestigious brands that over the years have started a collaboration with Kettal, combined with in-depth research on both the aesthetics of the products and the used materials, have allowed the company to make itself known for its quality all over the world thanks to some designs that have become iconic.
This is the case, for example, of the Maia collection designed even in 2005 by Patricia Urquiola, capable of combining a material such as aluminum within individual pieces, synonymous with solidity and resistance, with a precious play of handcrafted weaves.
Other opposites of strength and lightness, coexist in the long-lasting Park Life collection, the first for outdoors designed by Jasper Morrison that includes everything you need to relax outdoors like chairs, tables, armchairs, tables and even deckchairs.
On the other hand, it is the nautical sector that provided the inspiration for Rodolfo Dordoni for Bitta, a series that includes, in addition to the iconic Club armchairs, also swings, beds and stools, almost all characterized by weaves in polyester ropes that recall those used for tie the mooring lines of the boats to the bollards presented in the ports.
In more recent times, Kettal has enjoyed great success thanks to its Band collection, launched in 2020 and again designed by Patricia Urquiola, capable of imagining a furniture family of outdoor chairs obtained through the different structural elements.
Not just chairs and armchairs though: with the collaboration of Doshi Levien, Kettal also proposed the Bela Lamp collection, consisting of colored lamps whose design refers to hand-woven lanterns that belong to the Indian tradition.
