Studio Asaï has dedicated the Sigmund collection designed for Arflex to the philosopher and psychoanalyst Freud, who are the main protagonists in the daybed and on a bench. Starting from 2019, is joined by new pieces that have enriched the collection - a writing desk, a coffee table and a side table.
The design of the products belonging to the collection is obvious and hides nothing, highlighting the construction method of each piece, confirming its coherence with the basic idea of the Sigmund collection, that is to offer comfortable spaces to cherish moments of analysis and introspection, especially through the daybed.
DESIGN AND THE CONCEPT OF STUDIO ASAÏ
Founded in 2014 by Antoine Simonin, Studio Asaï designed the Sigmund collection for Arflex in 2018, inspired by those who dedicate reading as an activity capable of revealing an imaginary world.
In the essential and comfortable shapes of the daybed and the bench, sharing the same aesthetic concept, as well as in the materials used, all the attention of Arflex towards research and experimentation is visible, which transform simple pieces of furniture into products with an aesthetic and soul unique, which define a space for reflection within the domestic environment.
ARFLEX SIGMUND BENCH AND COFFEE TABLE
The daybed and the bench represent the fulcrum of the Sigmund Arflex collection, with a light metal structure lacquered in different colors that supports a seat in shaped polyurethane and polyester fiber, upholstered in leather or fabric.
The roll cushion, with the same padding as the seat, is optional to give a further touch of comfort, while the brass spirals that stand out in contrast with the metal structure express great attention to detail, capable of embellishing the whole.
Since 2019, the Sigmund collection has expanded to include a writing desk and a coffee table: these pieces are aesthetically consistent with their predecessors, boasting the same lacquered metal structure, the brass spirals symbolizing the union of the various elements and the suspended floors, in this case in stone, which recall the same elliptical shapes.
