Sag80: Exhibiting at Milan Design Week 2024!

In keeping with tradition, Milan Design Week in 2024 once again proved to be a must-attend event to learn about the latest trends in design furniture, those that will inevitably go on to influence and inspire the industry’s major innovations.

Read on to delve into the highlights of this transformative week and discover how SAG’80 continues to lead the way in merging creativity and sustainability.

SAG’80 at Milan Design Week: Tailoring Bespoke Projects to Perfection

Dedicated for years to accompanying its clients step by step in the realization of tailor-made projects, calibrated to individual needs, SAG’80 could not miss Design Week, which was held in conjunction with the Milan International Furniture Fair.

For the occasion, the showroom at 4 Via Boccaccio became the setting for a massive, sustainably made art installation that tells of the possible and now dutiful alliance between the textile industry and the environment.

In addition to being an artistic work, “Glacial Threads: From Forest to Future Textiles” is a pioneering project conceived by the Lenzing Group, a world leader in the production of specialty fibers made from wood, which has taken the opportunity to present an innovative ecological fabric that may prove to be a key weapon in safeguarding glaciers, which are increasingly threatened by the impact of climate change.

From April 18 to 24, 2024, the SAG’80 showroom was open to citizens and tourists to host sharing moments that united the world of design with sustainability, serving as an opportunity to raise awareness of the impact of textile waste on the environment and thus the need to find new solutions.

Milan Design Week 2024: the unmissable event of international design

Among the events of Milan Design Week 2024, “Glacial Threads: From Forest to Future Textiles” set up in the SAG’80 showroom was an unmissable opportunity to reflect on how the world of the textile industry can adapt to the new challenges posed by climate change.

Thanks to a fabric composed of recyclable cellulosic fibers derived from wood from sustainably managed forests, developed by the Lenzing Group, it is indeed possible to imagine a different future about the impact of textile waste on the environment.

In fact, an innovative wood-based protective felt allows this fabric to be removed from the glaciers after two years of use and then be reintegrated within the textile cycle so it can be recycled and regenerated. The resulting product is eventually delivered into the hands of fashion designers, who can then give rise to totally sustainable garments.

By hosting “Glacial Threads: From Forest to Future Textiles” during Design Week, SAG’80 thus aimed to raise awareness among industry practitioners and enthusiasts about a key issue and how new, totally plastic-free solutions may be the way forward in making the industry sustainable.

The showroom was thus transformed into the perfect stage to celebrate the art installation, created in collaboration with master Michelangelo Pistoletto, who designed the project’s logo, and celebrated during various moments of the event, such as during the invitation-only cocktail reception featuring Portofino Dry Gin held on the evening of April 17 that marked the opening of the event.

Once again, SAG’80 took full advantage of Milan Design Week to offer its audience the best of Italian and international design in its spaces, which for the occasion served as the setting for a project aimed at raising awareness among customers and enthusiasts about the ways in which industry today can equip itself to respond to today’s environmental challenges.
