It is not just an<\/strong> armchair<\/strong>, Up<\/strong> is a tale of design history<\/strong>, the result of the synergy between a design intuition of Gaetano<\/strong> Pesce<\/strong> and the production skills of B&B Italia<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

A collection<\/strong> consisting of seven different models<\/strong> of armchairs<\/strong> in various sizes, made entirely of polyurethane with stretch fabric upholstery<\/strong> available in different colors, the Up<\/strong> series<\/strong> designed by Gaetano Pesce<\/em> is among the most emblematic cases<\/strong> of Radical Design<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Up is almost fifty years old, Pesce in fact designed it in 1969, and the resounding visual impact <\/strong>it makes in the design industry is a testament to how much the stroke of a single designer can change the thinking of many.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Gaetano Pesce’s design<\/strong> is sculptural<\/strong>, balanced between curved geometries and pop identities<\/strong>, and the choice to use bright colors<\/strong> is based on emotions, those of joy, optimism, and sensuality.<\/p>\n

Of all the models in the series, the most famous is Up5<\/strong> paired with the Up6 ottoman<\/strong>, ideally conceived by the designer as “a woman with a ball and chain,” represented in form and color through very obvious choices.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The importance of Gaetano Pesce’s Up armchair is underscored by its presence in many permanent collections<\/strong> in the world’s major design museums<\/strong>, such as the Triennale Design Museum<\/em> in Milan and MoMA <\/em>in New York.<\/p>\n

Up is the result of the meeting of art and design<\/strong>, of concept and practical realization<\/strong>, and this makes it considered one of the most famous industrial design products in the world<\/strong>. <\/p>\n
