In 1927 the brothers Cesare and Umberto Cassina<\/strong> founded in Meda what was to become one of the leading <\/strong> Italian companies<\/strong> in the design and furniture market<\/strong>. The soul of this company has always been in the perfect combination of tradition and experimentation<\/strong>, Cassina is rigor<\/strong> and a spirit of research<\/strong> of design<\/strong> in every detail<\/strong>. An unmistakable line drawn by the pens of great names in<\/strong> both historical<\/strong> and contemporary<\/strong> design<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Andrea Branzi<\/strong>, Achille Castiglioni<\/strong>, Rodolfo Dordoni<\/strong>, Vico Magistretti<\/strong>, Afra and Tobia Scarpa<\/strong>, Ettore Sottsass<\/strong>, and later Piero Lissoni<\/strong> and Philippe Starck<\/strong>, are just a few of the many names that can be placed alongside Cassina’s.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n A company to be remembered also for an extraordinary work of rediscovery and revaluation<\/strong> of objects designed by great masters<\/strong> such as Le Corbusier<\/strong>, Rietveld<\/strong> and Frank Loyd Wright<\/strong>, still in production today.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n <\/p>\n In 1964 Le Corbusier signed<\/strong> precisely with Cassina<\/strong> the first in a series of exclusive licensing contracts for the publishing rights to some of his models, recognizing their extraordinary industrial capacity<\/strong>. Over all, the LC Collection<\/strong> has planetary popularity, and the LC2 armchair<\/strong> is to date one of the best-selling objects in the design world.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n To mention other pieces in production that have made design history<\/strong>, the Boboli<\/em>table by<\/em> Rodolfo Dordoni<\/strong>, the chair Zig Zag <\/em>and the Utrecht<\/em> armchair by Rietveld<\/strong>, <\/strong>Gio<\/strong> Ponti<\/strong>‘s SuperLeggera<\/em> and Philippe Starck<\/strong> ‘s Caprice<\/em> chair are symbols<\/strong> of Cassina’s<\/strong> unique Made in Italy <\/strong>. <\/p>\n <\/p>\n\n
